A native of Houston, Alphise Washington is known for her inventive take on modern soul food, as well as comfort classics. As a chef, Alphise has traveled extensively in pursuit of more experience and knowledge. She graduated from The Art Institute of Houston and began her restaurant career with Fig & Olive in Houston. Later, she expanded her knowledge of the restaurant business by working for Etta’s Kitchen, Lagniappe Catering, and Abbey’s Catering. Alphise has also built a clientele as a private chef working for NFL and NBA players in Houston, Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. One of her goals is to ensure traditional Southern foods, recipes, and preparations continue to live on and be passed down. Alphise believes being transparent with information and techniques, and teaching the next generation about Southern food is key to sustaining this culinary tradition. Cooking is Alphise’s passion and she truly believes in using the freshest of ingredients and putting all of her heart and soul in every piece of food.
